On Friday May 30, 2014 our class watched two visual essays about the Long Game (see previous blog post) at the same time as as class at Cameron Heights Secondary School. During the viewing, students tweeted out "tweets of value".
My working definition of a tweet of value is:
My working definition of a tweet of value is:
#tweetsofvalue 140 characters that share insight, ideas, links, connections, questions that might forward the thinking of you and others.

After watching and tweeting, I asked students to sign up forStorify, an app that can pull feeds from Twitter, Facebook and other social media applications. In this case, the purpose of Storify was to archive tweets from our backchannel experience.
The overall purpose of the activity was to explore how technology can shape our society by participating in an online conversation with other students at a different school. Although some may see Twitter as a frivolous social media app, I would like my students to explore the use of Twitter as a personal learning network that can also include conversations and debates.
For those who missed it, here are the instructions:
1. Select at least 10 tweets that are worth archiving. You can include your own.
2. You can add commentary to the tweets. The commentary is particularly useful if you want to explain your disagreement or disappointment with a tweet.
3. Publish the story and embed it into your personal portfolio.
